This sitter is very tired now and am going to bed.    After my morning visits, I went and ran 8 miles.  It took my “gusto” out of me and I need to go rejuvenate.

This evening we sat in the back yard and did some puppy play.  Then the mosquitoes swarmed in and were loving me!!!  I had to call it quits on our outdoor excursion as I hadn’t sprayed down with repellent.

Many of my friends have recalled their memories on Facebook.  My memory:

I’m one of those long time residents, whose parents took me and my big brother there in the Ford Galaxy to see whatever latest movie was showing.  My dad would fill up a brown grocery sack of popcorn popped in the same pan he made his coffee in.  Actually, it was good popcorn!  I have no clue how the coffee tasted though.  Dad liked it! 

Anyway, she eagerly went outside to do her biz and then we sat on the front porch and watched/listened to the night life going on around us.  She was very content with doing this as there was some sort of teenager dancing class going on at the church.  It was definitely not ballroom dancing, but maybe a sedate tango class?  It was fun to watch, which was all we cared about.

Anyway, the visit started out great.  She met me at the fence all happy and ready to greet me.  By the time we walked into the back of the yard, she reverted to her fearful self.  I had some treats with me, which she LOVED, but not enough to break through her shell.  She kept her distance from me, but would take some treats from my hand….ever so cautiously.  She’ll come around though.  They all do and I have had lots of experience with the shy dog.

I left the pups out at noon and then again at the late afternoon visit, so they had several hours to roam free.  I didn’t see any messes.  Yea!  There’s not much out of the ordinary to report.  The weather cooled off dramatically after the 11 p.m. storms came through, which helped us all to have a more enjoyable time outdoors.  Pete was rather “persnickety” tonight with Cosmo.  He started off with trying to herd him and after several attempts of this, I had enough of it.    It was certainly making Cosmo nervous.  After telling Pete to “knock it off”, I threw the ball a few times while waiting on Rudy to decide to return inside.  This calmed Mr. Pete down.

Cosmo’s belly looks better to me.  During my initial spot check yesterday, I immediately saw the red, flaired spots.  Today, I had to move the fur to see them.  Good!  I think it’s on the mend now.  I’m getting my fill with inflamed dogs.    I had to take my own old guy in to the vet today (don’t ask how I squeezed that into my crazy schedule) with what appeared to me as an abscess on his back leg.  The vet checks it and says it doesn’t feel like one and starts telling me it’s probably a tumor.  Huh?  Then he takes some fluid to look under the microscope and tells me the tumor is abscessing, because the white cell count is high.  Double huh?  Long story short, I’m now dosing him with antibiotics.  Maybe he has a tumor, but I’m betting against it.  There’s never been a lump there before last Friday.
